Flinq core concepts

These concepts describe how information is organised in Flinq and how banking data flows into Interest Pooling and reporting.

Organisation and office

• Organisation: the top-level customer workspace. It owns shared defaults such as branding, reporting currency, timezone, language and SSO configuration.

• Office: an operating workspace inside the organisation. Users, banks, currencies, data exchange, reporting and product features are configured in an office context.

Banking

• Bank: the financial institution connected to an office.

• Branch: a bank subdivision identified from imported account data. Branches can limit which accounts are eligible for an interest pool.

• Bank account: an imported account identified by its account number or IBAN, bank, branch and currency.

• Statement: one or more imported bank files containing balances and, where supported, transactions.

• Importer: the manual or automated connection that converts bank data into Flinq records.

• Exporter: the manual or automated connection that produces or sends payment instructions.

• Book: an optional reporting group. A bank account can belong to one book at a time.

## Interest Pooling

• Interest pool: a group of eligible accounts for one bank and currency that share a rate and payout arrangement.

• Management account: the pool account used to receive or fund the interest associated with the arrangement.

• Interest profile: the effective bank rate and day-count convention used to calculate gross interest.

• Payout profile: the cash management charge deducted from gross interest to determine the client net return.

• Standing rate profile: an optional client-return benchmark used when Standing Rates is enabled.

• Profile period: the effective-dated set of tiers used for a defined period. New terms create a new period so historical calculations remain reproducible.

• Payment run: the calculation and approval workflow that creates client interest payment instructions for selected pools and dates.
