How to deactivate a bank safely

Understand when Flinq permits bank deactivation and what to review before attempting it.

Katrin Erb Written by Katrin Erb Updated Published

Deactivate a bank only when the office no longer uses the relationship and its operational history has been reviewed.

Before you start

  • Confirm that no new statements or payments are expected.

  • Review active importers and exporters for the bank.

  • Review interest pools, management accounts, Books and payment runs that use its accounts.

  • Preserve contractual, reporting and audit-retention requirements.

Attempt deactivation

  1. Go to Settings > Office Settings > Banks.

  2. Find the bank and turn off Active.

If the control is disabled, the bank has existing statements or bank accounts in the office. Flinq intentionally preserves the active relationship so those records remain coherent.

If Flinq blocks the change

Do not delete statements, accounts or completed financial history to enable the toggle. Confirm the intended outcome with Flinq support. In most cases, leaving the historical bank active while disabling unused importers or exporters is safer than removing the banking relationship.

After deactivation

Confirm that the bank no longer appears in new operational selections and that users understand where its historical information remains available.
